After much begging and brokering with my
dad I have finally got a decent blazer for (a very late) Christmas. What’s
exciting about this is that blazer is not only rather dapper but it also fits
perfectly. All my previous jackets/blazers have been either hand-me-downs from
cousins or out of a charity shops and the thing is, I'm rather tall. Not
freakishly, but 6ft 4 is taller than most and so I usually have to make the
difficult call of either a well fitted sleeve but too big around the waist or
well fitted around the waist but sleeves so short I may as well be wearing a
t-shirt (not a good look).
When buying a blazer the best fit is one that is not too tight, the tailored look is nice but too small and it will neither last nor look good. The best advice to remember is that if when you do the button up you can see the jacket visibly pulling, get the size up; arm lengths can always be altered.

Inside the Hugo Boss flagship in Sloane
Square you’ll find an extremely cool store, not least because of the McLaren
Formula 1 car hanging on the wall (I like F1, but even to non-fans it’s still
pretty damn sweet). The staff were extremely helpful, but not overbearing.
There was also a fantastic range in the New Year sale (I wasn't obviously going
to get a brand new jacket, one day).
I opted for a slightly more modern one that could both pass as a blazer and a sort of sports jacket. When investing in a blazer, you definitely want it to last and look good, therefore you should'nt be afraid to pay that bit extra! Due to my long-armed predicament the
blazer I found wasn't quite there so I had to get it altered and once the
accommodating sales assistant reassured me that the pins where for the jacket
and not for my back, the measurement were taken. It was to be taken in around
the waist and the sleeves lengthened by 1.5cm. Then I was told to wait.
Finally, I got pick to it up:

In need of a new blazer? Hugo Boss is the
place.

Nice post, I always think that if you're buying something that's going to last a while then you should spend 10% of your money on getting in altered to fit perfectly. It's all well and good having a top label jacket but it's the fit that makes it.
